Last night, I stumbled upon a new nasheed by the British Muslim singer, Sami Yusuf.

I listened to the song all night. And continue listening until now. As I usually get online via Yahoo Messenger almost every time I surf the internet, I shared it with several friends and asked for their opinion regarding the nasheed.

Since Malaysians are not really used to English nasheed, a friend of mine was thinking that it was a common love song, not realizing it is actually dedicated to our beloved Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h.

Upon knowing it wasn’t the usual love song she had always listen to, she asked me, "Can this song be dedicated to lover?"

I was a little bit uneasy.

"Errr….the song is dedicated to the Prophet," I reminded her.

"Yeah, I know…you are being so serious." She understood my disapproval.

I put a grinning smiley in the chat box, hoping that she wouldn't be much offended.

No other human deserves that much attention and sacrifice. Especially when speaking about a man who is not blood-related. Not a mahram either. Even if you are married to him, his status is still lower than the Prophet. The amount of love and affection we have for the Prophet should (and must) be a lot greater than the love we have for any other humans, any other things.

One of my psychology lecturers once pointed out in our class, "Don’t you realize that it is sinful to remember your lover more than remembering Allah?"

I could say nothing more except to fully agree. No objection, Your Honour.

Our Creator and His Messenger deserve a secured place, unshakeable faith in our heart, more than any other things ever exist.

p/s: my dear nonmuslim friends, Islam is my religion, my savior. I hope that this fact wouldn’t scratch the beautiful friendship we have had all this while. Differences aren’t meant as barrier but one of the many bridges which connect us. =)
