Never try to use the prepaid broadband before you receive the message confirming the subscription or else you will be charged under pay-per-use charges at RM0.10/10kb. Vey, very, very expensive.
This lesson costs me RM23.
Today, I mistakenly thought the message was delayed so I tried to connect to the internet. When the connection was successful, I joyfully surfed the internet, thinking that a successful connection means a successful prepaid broadband subscription.
Watching one Youtube video (it didn’t even completely downloaded for my viewing) and checking my facebook account for several minutes was enough to exhaust my RM23 credit balance.
After a few minutes of surfing, I got an error message telling me that my balance was exhausted and so, I can’t continue surfing anymore. I was using it only for about 30 minutes or maybe less.
Furiously*, I called Celcom Careline at 1111. Only then I realized what was happening. Celcom has rightfully deducted the balance for pay-per-use charges (the prepaid broadband subscription was unsuccessful) but has wrongfully not making sure the customers are well-informed about how all these technical things flow, how all these mechanism work.
*my scholarship is barred this semester due to my study leave last time & currently my weekly treatments require lots more money now, more than a hundred ringgit each time.
It could be me. I don’t enjoy internet surfing via mobile phone so maybe that’s why I didn’t know much about this prepaid broadband subscription. Internet surfing via prepaid mobile phones has been available for quite long time but as a visual learner, I’m very sensitive with screen width and sizes. Surfing internet via mobile phone is not a favourable option.
Moreover, internet surfing via mobile phone was a lot more expensive compared with conventional postpaid internet services. Thus, I’ve never really tried exploring this option in depth until now. For these reasons, I’m regarded as a new user for prepaid broadband.
However, to create a win-win situation, I’m flagging a big banner here, which I believe is hugely-supported by other customers at large out there.
Merchandisers like Celcom, Maxis and Digi (Malaysia’s leading service providers) ought to work hard to create a user-friendly commercial environment for their clients, thus creating well-informed customer population. Help us to understand you and we will like you more.
Every time we are unable to figure you out, our mind will automatically (and easily) associate you with bad image. Especially when we are at lose. Just to make things worse, this process is an accumulative process. The more we fail to understand you, the more we dislike you. You won’t want that to happen.
If you don’t do it now, one day, there will be a new company who adopt this strategy to win our heart.
Even though, some might regard my idea here as being too ideal or too perfect for a real world out there (especially when it comes to business and money), I still feel the need to voice out my opinion.
